YEE House is located in one of the popular district in Selangor, Malaysia. The residence was conceptualized as an amalgamation of the serenity of the site and the client’s requirement of a simple and sumptuous house. The challenge of this house was to meet 11 family members’ requirements and interpret them into one. The façade of the house was inspired by two different stone profiles composed together to enhance the visible form. Creating a strong dual frontage that makes a bold statement, allowing the residence to stand out among the neighbouring forms....
The house is planned in three levels: Ground floor was planned with all the basic public spaces but composed in a way to interact with each other. The first floor is composed with bedrooms and a common family space overlooking the dining space with double height. The second floor is built with a bar surrounded by bedrooms.
The finishing materials that have been used for this house are minimal and elegant looking. The flooring is mostly kept in clean marble to focus on the furniture and wall details that have been finished with European contemporary wainscoting design. Lighting has played an major role in this house especially on the façade lighting to impress the viewers by providing direct and indirect lighting effects on stone cladding and exaggerated window copings.
